Affluent Parents Accused of Covering Tracks in Arizona Teen Murder Case

In Queen Creek, Arizona, a tragic case unfolded last Halloween weekend involving the murder of 16-year-old Preston Lord, allegedly by members of a teen gang known as the "Gilbert Goons."

Police documents reveal intricate details about the suspects and their efforts to evade consequences. Among the charged are Treston Billey, Jacob Meisner, Taylor Sherman, Talan Renner, Dominic Turner, William Owen Hines, and Talyn Vigil.

A focal point of the investigation is the role of Talan Renner's affluent parents, owners of multiple Orangetheory Fitness studios. They reportedly took measures to protect their son, including seeking legal advice and moving him to a distant cabin. This move was allegedly suggested by Renner's attorney to allow time for his hands, potentially injured during the attack, to heal.

The incident has sparked controversy, especially after Renner participated in a high school football game amid ongoing investigations. The American Leadership Academy, where Renner was a student, has since removed the student and terminated the football coach in light of new evidence.

The suspects, all pleading not guilty, face charges of first-degree murder, kidnapping, and in some cases, aggravated robbery. As the legal proceedings continue, the community and Lord's family seek justice for the young victim, whose life was cut tragically short.

Gilbert's Mayoral and Council Races Heat Up Ahead of July Primary Election

The political landscape in Gilbert is heating up as the July 30 Primary Election approaches, with three candidates vying for the mayor's seat and four contenders aiming to secure the two open positions on the Gilbert Town Council.

The mayoral race sees Councilman Scott Anderson stepping up alongside newcomers Shane Krauser and Natalie DiBernardo, each submitting their nomination papers before the deadline.

The town council race includes Aaron Accurso, Noah Mundt, Monte Lyons, and Kenny Buckland, all of whom have successfully qualified for the primary ballot.

A potential run-off, if necessary, is scheduled for November 5. This election follows Mayor Brigette Peterson's decision to not seek a second term, with Anderson opting to pursue the mayoral role instead of reelection to his council seat, and Councilwoman Kathy Tilque also choosing not to run for another term.
