Experience Premier Pickleball at Gilbert's New Center Court Club

The Center Court Pickleball Club, a new 30,000-square-foot indoor facility, has opened its doors in Gilbert, joining the trend of indoor pickleball venues in the East Valley. Located at 1433 E. Williams Field Road in the Spectrum Town Center, this venue features 10 courts and is designed to cater to players of all skill levels. This opening follows the establishment of similar facilities in Chandler and Tempe, and a larger project near Scottsdale.

Center Court's offerings are comparable to high-end gyms, with a range of top-tier amenities aimed at enhancing the player experience. The club introduces a "crew membership" that provides discounts, special event invitations, and access to premium services, including the option to link memberships with family and friends at a reduced rate.

Key amenities at the club include a luxurious members' lounge, well-equipped locker rooms with showers, a dedicated area for stretching, a retail shop, a beverage wall, quick food options, and a wellness area featuring hydro massage and cryotherapy chairs. The facility also emphasizes social interaction, with spaces for spectators and players to mingle.

The club focuses on reducing wait times and facilitating connections between players of similar skill levels. It offers a variety of activities such as court reservations, private and group lessons, clinics, leagues, tournaments, open play, and exclusive events. The venue features a special "center court" for championship matches, providing an enhanced viewing experience with a larger seating area.

Center Court Pickleball Club plans to expand its presence with upcoming facilities in Scottsdale and Glendale. The club's design concept merges athletic lifestyle with unique amenities for a premium pickleball experience.

Volunteer for a Cause: Gilbertā€™s Day of Service to Seniors Seeks Helpers

The town of Gilbert is extending an invitation to community members to volunteer for the upcoming Day of Service to Seniors, scheduled for Saturday, January 20. This initiative is a compassionate effort to support local senior residents who are facing challenges due to limited financial resources or physical constraints, hindering their ability to maintain basic household tasks.

The scope of assistance provided by volunteers encompasses a variety of household chores and minor maintenance work. These tasks include light yard work, helping seniors organize and remove boxes and bags intended for donation, and managing trash and recycling. Additionally, volunteers will be aiding with light housework cleaning and performing small but crucial tasks like changing light bulbs and air filters.

This community service event is a collaborative effort between the town of Gilbert and Weekly Collective, aimed at making a meaningful difference in the lives of Gilbertā€™s senior population. The service activities are planned to be carried out in the morning hours, from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., on the designated day.

Interested individuals who wish to contribute their time and effort to this cause can register as volunteers on the official Gilbertā€™s Day of Service webpage. This opportunity provides a platform for community members to engage in acts of kindness and support towards the elderly members of their community, ensuring their comfort and well-being.

In the quaint Vincenz neighborhood of east Gilbert, the Cookie Mill operates out of a modest 1,100-square-foot home, which is both the residence and the business hub for Debbie George. This unique venture, far from the typical commercial bakery, reflects the extraordinary dedication and hard work of its owner, who has transformed her passion for cookie-making into a thriving business.

From Passion to Profession

Debbie George's journey into the world of cookie artistry began with a simple cookie-decorating class she attended with her daughter. This experience ignited a passion that soon evolved into a full-fledged business. After her daughter decided to step away from her own cookie venture, Debbie caught the cookie bug and embarked on her path, selling her Mesa home and moving to Gilbert to pursue her dream.

A Gilbert Company at Heart

Debbie's decision to establish Cookie Mill in Gilbert was influenced by her vision for the company and the town's agricultural roots. Inspired by her Massachusetts upbringing and the red barns of the countryside, she envisioned Cookie Mill not just as a business but as a concept that resonates with the community feel of Gilbert.

CookieCon and Continuous Learning

Debbie's commitment to excellence led her to attend "CookieCon," an annual convention that provided her with invaluable insights and techniques in cookie decoration. Her participation in this event, marked by seminars and community engagement, showcases her dedication to refining her skills and exploring new possibilities in cookie artistry.

A Business Model of Innovation and Quality

Cookie Mill specializes in creating custom cookies for corporate events, using high-quality ingredients and techniques to replicate precise logos and QR codes on cookies. Debbieā€™s meticulous work includes over 4,800 cookie cutters, enabling her to cater to any theme imaginable. Besides corporate orders, she also accommodates family events and offers DIY kits for personal cookie decorating experiences.

The Challenges and Triumphs of Running Cookie Mill

Running Cookie Mill hasn't been without its challenges, especially during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic. Yet, Debbie's resilience and the proceeds from the sale of her Mesa home helped sustain the business. The cyclical nature of the business, with its highs and lows, is something she has learned to navigate with a blend of optimism and hard work.
