From Gilbert’s Chief Talent Officer to VP at Delta Dental: Jolean Fleck’s Inspiring Journey

Jolean Fleck, Vice President of People and Organizational Development at Delta Dental of Arizona since 2019, is a key figure in shaping the company's culture and enhancing employee experiences. Her role includes leadership development and employer branding, leveraging her extensive experience in talent management across various industries. Fleck's journey to this position is marked by over two decades of delivering HR solutions aligned with business strategy.

Fleck's background includes a chief talent officer role for the town of Gilbert, and she holds an undergraduate degree in business with a human resources concentration from Austin Peay State University and an MBA from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. Her credentials include a Senior Professional in Human Resources certification and a SHRM-SCP designation. Additionally, Fleck contributes to the community as a board member for Save The Family, a Mesa-based organization supporting homeless and impoverished families.

Her personal journey, marked by the loss of her father at a young age, shaped her into a self-reliant individual. She took on significant responsibilities in her family, which later influenced her professional ethos. Fleck's early career involved a transformative tenure at Rockford Fosgate, where she observed business dynamics and growth, learning invaluable lessons in HR management and business strategy. Post-Rockford, Fleck pursued an MBA and joined Alcoa in Chandler as part of a turnaround team, contributing significantly to its profitability.

Fleck's personal life includes marriage, motherhood, and eventually meeting her current husband, Dan. Her approach to her second marriage incorporated her professional skills, ensuring a more thoughtful and deliberate choice.

As for her future aspirations, Fleck focuses on Delta Dental of Arizona's strategy, exploring new partnerships and opportunities, and emphasizing the integration of dental health with overall wellness.

Gilbert Historical Museum Unveils Rich January 2024 Program Lineup

HD SOUTH, home of the Gilbert Historical Museum, is set to host a series of captivating events and programs in January 2024, all aimed at enriching the community's understanding of local and national history. Located at the intersection of Gilbert and Elliot roads, the museum operates in a building that dates back to 1913, making it the oldest in Gilbert and the only one listed on the National Register of Historical Places.

The museum's upcoming exhibits include a fascinating display on the evolution of greeting cards, tracing their history from ancient China and Egypt to modern times. This exhibit, running through February 5, promises to evoke nostalgic memories with its extensive collection. Alongside this, various workshops and programs are scheduled. Notably, children's book author-illustrator Jenifer Tull-Gauger will conduct a reading and workshop focusing on honesty, complemented by an interactive session on creating bliss lists, scheduled for January 6.

Other notable events include a weekly literacy program every Tuesday in January, hosted by AZCEND Family Resources, emphasizing the development of reading habits in children. A unique session on finding humor in life, led by retired professor Duane Roen, is set for January 9.

Art enthusiasts can look forward to a 'Paint and Sip' evening on January 11, where artist Jean Smith will guide participants in creating their own art pieces.

For those interested in technology and craftsmanship, a STEM Saturday event on January 20 will offer insights into wood carving using computer numerical control.

A sound meditation session, particularly for those grieving a loss, will be conducted by certified practitioner Stuart Preston on January 25.

Kendra Stanger from Chandler Gilbert Community College will host an informative session on January 27 about food sustainability in the desert, including the use of desert mesquite pods for culinary purposes.
