Holiday Lights Beckon: Gilbert's Riparian After Dark Promises Enchanting Evenings
Gilbert's Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch is set to sparkle with festive brilliance during the Riparian After Dark event from Dec. 8-19. Attendees can immerse themselves in the holiday spirit as they wander the 1.5 miles of trails and walkways adorned with thousands of lights and displays.
Tickets, priced at $5 online or $10 in person, offer a magical evening for all ages, with free admission for children under 3. A hot chocolate/coffee truck adds a warm touch to the experience.
Parking is available at the Southeast Regional Library, and the event entrance is conveniently located in the north parking lot on the corner of Guadalupe and Greenfield roads. The town emphasizes that the Riparian Preserve parking lot won't be available after 4 p.m. on event days.
To enhance the festive atmosphere, leashed pets are welcome, and attendees are encouraged to contribute to a noble cause by bringing dog food, blankets, beds, or toys for Maricopa County animal rescues.

Remembering Ilai Petersen: Gilbert Comes Together to Celebrate a Life Cut Short
In a heartfelt celebration of life in Gilbert, the community gathered to remember and honor 9-year-old Ilai Petersen, who tragically lost his life in a car crash in Chandler four weeks ago.
Ilai's father, Aaron Petersen, who also sustained injuries in the accident, described the daily challenges they face and the profound impact his son had on the lives of many. Despite the pain, the event allowed Aaron to witness the extent of Ilai's positive influence and the love people held for him. Friends and family shared fond memories of the lively and adventurous boy, emphasizing his love for helping others and the outdoors.
Ilai's family has initiated the Ilai "Sunny" Petersen Foundation Fund to continue supporting causes dear to Ilai's heart.
